We’re happy to report great things from Self Help Africa and Glenisk Yoghurt’s #OneMillionTrees campaign.
To start with, the one million trees have been planted! Self Help Africa and Glenisk both promptly proposed to plant another million. You can donate to plant here. Again, all the trees are native and there are a range of species for increased biodiversity.
And a hundred acres of what used to be Glenisk Woods are being reforested to nourish local biodiversity and reduce carbon in the locality. Great news for the wildlife of Ireland.
Glenisk also recently won the prize for the ‘Best sustainability/ CSR initiative ’ at the World Dairy Innovations Award. There were 222 entries from across the world and 20 categories. The judging panel announced the winners in a virtual ceremony. Congratulations!
In addition to this, Self Help Africa have announced a new independent project- Tree Planting for Carbon Offsetting. This is a project for businesses to reduce their carbon footprint by planting trees with Self Help Africa.
At the same time as improving the environment, they’ll help support farming communities in rural Africa, they’ll be able to monitor their trees and they’ll get a certificate acknowledging their tree planting efforts.
If you are an interested business, you can read all about it and sign up to learn more here, or contact info@selfhelpafrica.org.
Well done Self Help Africa and Glenisk, keep up the good work!
