INSPIRING TREE PEOPLE AND PLACES:
An Gaírdín is an Organic Garden and Ecology Centre in Portumna, East Galway. We are lucky enough to be working with the wonderful team to promote native trees and hedgerow as part of their education programme for schools.
Sean O’Farrell farms with nature. We visited his inspiring farm in Tipperary and learned how he cares for hedgerow and plants native trees on his organic, mixed farm. He teaches school groups and other groups all about nature too.
Woodville Walled Garden
Woodville Walled Garden, Kilchreest, County Galway is a restored 18th Century walled garden with 8 acres of native woodland. It is well worth a visit.
Portumna Forest Park
Portumna Forest Park along Lough Derg, County Galway, has cycling and walking trails through trees. It is mainly coniferous but has deciduous trees too, supporting many birds and mammals. We spend a lot of time climbing trees and making dens here!
Trees On The Land
Trees On The Land is a charity across the whole of Ireland, helping people to plant native bare root trees. If you are a family with land, community group, school, council or farmer, they can help you plan your planting and make it affordable.
